Amani Centre for Street Children is a nationally registered NGO based in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Tanzania. Amani is committed to reducing the number of children living on the streets in Tanzania by providing a safe place for homeless children to heal, grow, and learn and when possible reuniting them with their families and/ or relatives. Amani operates in Moshi, Arusha, and Singida - with headquarters in Moshi.


Amani is seeking to recruit several new, dynamic staff members - to be working with Children Living and Working on the Streets (CLWS) under the Kizazi Kipya Program. This is a new program implemented by Amani as part of a nation-wide PACT-USAID and Tanzanian Government Initiative. Amani will implement this program in Arusha City. The selected candidates in these positions will work under the direct supervision of the Kizazi Kipya Project Coordinator. In addition to the Kizazi Kipya job openings, Amani also is recruiting to fill vacant positions in its existing programs in Moshi, Kilimanjaro.

A. Family Worker I Family Interventions for Child Reunification (Social Worker)

(1 position for existing programs in Moshi; and 1 position for the new Kizazi Kipya program in Arusha)


Position Description: You will work intensively with (former) street children and their families, to achieve successful reunification/reintegration and strengthen the family. You will manage reunification case-loads, conduct frequent therapeutic counselling support visits to families of (reunified) street children and youth, do follow-up visits to monitor positive progress of children and youth who are reunited with families, and provide detailed timely reports on the support provided and the outcomes achieved. You will keep complete and confidential, detailed data files of the children/youth and their families.

Minimum qualifications and experience required: A degree or (advanced) diploma in social work, community development, sociology, or any other child-development related studies. Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili, and at least two years of work experience in a closely related position.

B. Street Worker/ Street Educator (Social Worker) (1 position in Arusha; and 1 position in Moshi)

Position Description: You will work intensively in daily street outreach to children and youth who are living and working on the streets. You will build strong relationships of trust, intensively counsel the children and youth, and motivate them to leave the streets behind. You will actively make contact with new children on the street, including both full-time and part-time street children. You will collaborate closely with Amani's family workers to enable smooth transitioning off the streets and subsequent family reunification. You will build and maintain strong partnerships with other stakeholders to ensure optimal protection of street children. (In Arusha only) You will operate the Arusha Drop-In Centre for Street Children and conduct group counseling / training sessions with the children and youth there.

Minimum qualifications and experience required (for all the above):

A degree or (advanced) diploma in social work, community development, sociology, or any other child-development related studies. Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili, and at least two years of work experience in a closely related position.


C. Project Coordinator "Kizazi Kipya" (1 position in Arusha)

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's Degree in Social work, Sociology, Community Development or Project Management. At least 3 years experience in senior level project coordination/management. Excellent command of English and Kiswahili, excellent MS Office skills, ability to work independently. Working experience with orphans or vulnerable children preffered.

D. Project Accountant "Kizazi Kipya"(l position, based in Moshi)

Position Description: You will work as part of the Arusha Kizazi Kipya team and will be in charge of monitoring all its finances, in line with Amani' s and PACT-USAID' s requirements, policies, and procedures. You will ensure funds are used strictly for the purpose intended. You will regularly review program expenses against approved budget, and ensure proper documentation for all project transactions. You will be the lead accountant for this program.

Minimum qualifications and experience required: An advanced diploma or bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or finance. Proven ability to speak and write both Swahili and English languages proficiently. At least two years of work experience in a similar position. Experience in working with PACT and/ or USAID or similar large international donors preferred.

E. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer "Kizazi Kipya" (1 position, based in Arusha)
Position Description: You will be responsible for all the data management and monitoring and evaluation of the Arnani Kizazi Kipya program for street children and youth in Arusha. You will collaborate closely with the field staff to ensure that detailed, high-quality data on each program activity and each child/youth are collected and stored professionally in the program databases. You will train and coach the social workers on high-quality and timely data collection. You keep all the program databases up to date, and will provide all the required report data to the project coordinator for frequent program reporting.

Minimum qualifications and experience required: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or Project Management. At least 3 years experience in project M&E and managing project databases. Excellent skills in MS Excel/ Access (and MS Office). Excellent command of English and Kiswahili, oral and written. Powerful collaborator, who can independently work with multiple teams and partner agencies.

F. Database Manager I Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer for Amani in general (1 position, based in Moshi)

Position Description: Your key responsibility will be to manage two large professional databases, in Excel/Access and in Salesforce: Amani' s Donor Database and the Amani Children's Case Management System. You will collect and enter all new donor data and children's data in both databases, and make sure that they are kept updated every week. You will develop frequently updated queries and reports, as well as performance dashboards, on both databases. You will prepare frequent tailor-made lists of groups of donors that need to receive Thank-You Letters, and will assist with a broad range of other office tasks, including sending out mailings, as required.

Minimum qualifications and experience required: Bachelor's Degree in a highly relevant field, with minimum of 3 years' experience in Monitoring and Evaluation and in advanced Database Management. Expert knowledge of the Excel (and Access) software; hands-on experience in using Sales force strongly preferred. Great attention to detail. Excellent social skills to work with the other Amani staff to obtain all the relevant data. An exceptionally high level of professional and moral integrity. Fluent in oral and written English, and a high degree of conversational skills in Kiswahili.

Procurement Officer (1 position)

Minimum qualifications and experience required:
A degree or Diploma in Procurement and supply management.

2 Years of experience in the field.

Excellent skills in MS Excel and MS Word.
Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili
Procurement related report writing skills.

Ability to multi task and to handle multiple priorities.

Nurse (1 position)

Minimum qualifications and experience required:
A diploma or certificate in Nursing
Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Willingness to also do outreach work in the streets of Arusha and Moshi
